AthletesCAN Board Members and Staff to Attend 2010 Winter Olympic Games
OTTAWA (February 16, 2010) – AthletesCAN is excited to have a team on site at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games! Staff and board members will be there to support and cheer on the Canadian Olympic team, all of whom are members of AthletesCAN.
“Actively supporting Canada’s national team athletes on the ground in Vancouver will be an incredible experience bringing us closer to our members at a time when they need us the most”, says Moira Lassen, Executive Director. “Witnessing so many great performances and watching our members succeed first hand will be an inspiration for all of us as we continue to work to ensure a fair and responsive athlete-centered sport system in Canada.”
Executive Committee members, Andrew Nisker (President), Erik Petursson (Vice-President), Suzanne Weckend (Corporate Secretary), along with other board members and Moira Lassen (Executive Director) will be attending key Games events to promote the AthletesCAN programs and services available to our senior national team athletes, including those Canadians competing in Vancouver. As well, Alexandra Orlando (Treasurer) and staff members Ashley Kilburn (Manager, Athlete Relations and Strategic Partnerships) and Danika Tanguay (Operations Coordinator) will be volunteering at the Canada Olympic House in downtown Vancouver. The team also looks forward to cheering on board member Alexa Loo as she competes in the Ladies PGS Snowboarding event at Cypress Mountain.
